It all started when...
Leslie Alterman is a fine artist. She grew up in Atlanta and currently lives and works in her native city. Her medium is acrylic on canvas or wood, and often mixed media. Her work is as refreshing as she is, spend time with her or her work, leave wanting more.
Her art invites you in, both appealing and mysterious. Her style is a reflection of her intuition, passion and curiosity. Self taught, Leslie is constantly continuing her education by following contemporary artists, taking classes, and traveling to places where customs are foreign and intriguing. She is inspired by Jean-Michael Basquiat, CyTwombly and Joan Mitchell, just to name a few.
Some of Leslie’s paintings are produced by raw intuition, mark making, bold colors, layering of pigments, stray lines and fearless brush strokes. Others are created in a similar approach but they refined through a process of subtraction creating a more calm and ethereal work that dances on the edges of subtle color, undefined lines, a flow from the heart of the artist. Leslie’s art is unfiltered. Her muses answer to no one, nor does she, a rebel in her own right, vulnerable, expressive, pain and pleasure no strangers.
Leslie’s work is held by private and corporate collectors. Her paintings have been featured and sold by One Kings Lane as well as Serena & Lily. She is currently represented at Atlanta Artist Collective.
